Welcome to Spring Creek Elementary, home of the Hawks. Our school motto is “Get Grit, Don’t Quit!” We follow our schoolwide positive behavior program STAR (Show Kindness, Take Responsibility, Act Safely, Ready to Learn). Fun facts: Our student population represents more than 30 countries of origin, and we have a school/community partnership pollinator garden.

This fall, a new type of alternative bus has been arriving at Corl Street Elementary School, powered by enthusiasm as strong as any hybrid or electric engine. It’s a walking school bus, a pilot initiative where retirees and parents accompany children to school.
Park Forest TSA members perennially shine on the regional, state and national stages, racking up an impressive record in a wide array of categories. Last June, to conclude the 2023-2024 school year, the chapter claimed two national champions.
Bomb squad representatives discussed their training, equipment, and procedures for examining a suspicious object and defusing explosives when on a call for State High students.
“We often say, no matter how great that teacher is, no matter how great that lesson plan is, if that kid sitting in class doesn’t feel comfortable for whatever reason, no matter what we’re saying up there, we’re not reaching that child,” Cindy Sergeon said.
About 80 third to fifth-graders, representing all eight elementary schools, learned about different intervention tools during a training workshop titled “Empowering the Bystander.”
The Board of Directors unanimously approved Gregg Wilson to be the new Gray’s Woods Elementary School principal.
